heh... alright, a little insight on whats going on...

got a lead from a person about a syclone sitting upside down off the side of a toll road in a pond in about 2ft of water....

its been there a few years, abandoned.

this person had broken down and was walking back to a nearby neighborhood when he glanced over a small bridge and sees a tailgate.... "Syclone" emblem shining in the sun....

says its been there as long as he can remember... he knows exactly what a syclone and typhoon is (trust me, i asked him a hundred times if he was sure it was a sy..)

i plan on driving out to the location with the person (its kinda in the middle of moo cow land) and confirm there is a truck...

wild goose chase? maybe....

but if its true, i already have a truck with winch and trailer ready to recover it.

if its been there awhile and its upside down, i doubt its rebuildable.... but you can be sure its gonna be gutted and used as a parts truck from anything salvagable.

my luck will be that we do find it and when we recover it, a body will roll out the cab.... heh

told ya this is a wierd one....

let ya know more when i go out on my wild goose chase...

my guess (if it's there) would be, it was stolen, wrecked, and no one ever found it. In any case, grab the vin and run in, that should tell a lot. I'd "rescue" it, and figure out what to do with it later;)

That's pretty wierd. Nice find. Does the guy who found it want anything for letting you in on this?

ID love a project like that, a completely rusted out sy that was lying on its roof in a swamp.. damn that would be a fun restoration...

damn that would be alot of work, not to mention $$$

MYSY 8U

my guess is that it was stolen too...

for now, though, remember, i havent been out to the location to even confirm a truck is there...im going by someones word....

if the truck is there.... the guy who told me, does he get anything?

i dont plan on giving him anything... or, at least he hasnt asked for anything.... he could really careless i think....he already said he isnt helping me pull it out... which to me says:

i'll show you were it is...after that, have fun.

trying to go sometime during the next week....might have to take a day off work on this one....

Any news?

Hmm, if it's stolen, it likely belongs to some insurance company who has likely paid out a claim on the truck. Personally, I feel the honest thing would be to inform the authorities, and maybe they could put you in connection to the insurance company so maybe you could buy the wreck from the insurance company.

Taking the truck and parting it out when it's laying in a swamp is just as bad as someone stealing the rims or cladding off your truck...

But, maybe you could just take what you wanted off the truck and leave the rest in the swamp.. or pull it out, strip it and say you found it that way? :)

Stealing from the insurance company. Hmmm?
They don't seem to mind stealing from us. :boink:

If it's been there over a year, nobody cares about it...I'd yank it out, put it in a barn, and find a 1st gen with a solid body to transfer everything on to...;)

well, if you ever do get out there and pull that beast out the swamp, you gonna part it out? if so, 1) only charge shipping and "finders fee" to us (i dont wanna pay no mofo thousand bucks for swampclone parts), and 2) can i get dibs on upper intake manifold (need chroming test dummy)?

No rush. :D

hey mike..

if it is there, i think im gonna do the right thing first and go through with finding out the info on the truck, who owned it, etc.

last thing i need is to have car theft put on me... as far as i know, legally it would be whoever the insurance was at the time....

dunno, need to look into it more, get details....

barkeepbronze

I'll take dibs on the lower intake... if you decide to part with it :D

Montreal - Florida ain't so bad!

My buddy just bought a '95 Dodge Ram 2500 w/Cummins Turbo Diesel which he is more than happy to give a workout, he's got a hydraulic pump on her too and plenty of farm trailers!!!

I think a Syclone would look nice in my driveway... and AWD is handy during the winter up here :boink:
