Need help 95 blazer 4.3 rough idle black smoke

My brother has a 95 blazer the idle on it is real rough. Hes got a lot of black smoke in his exhaust. Need help to fix. Starting it takes forever on a cold start. Any ideas? Someone told him it was his injectors.

Cool If it's a CPI engine...

it probably is the injector unit leaking and it has carboned up the EGR and is running way rich. Search this V6 forum for CPI injector for tons of info.

Do a search in the 6 cyl section (shouldn't this thread be there?)under "injector" and do some reading. You will find everything you need.
If you DO need to do the CPI remove and replace, the part #'s you need are in THIS thread.

There's a recall/ service bullitin from GM for the 95 Blazers, it's for the EGR I think, my mom's Blazer had it fixed recently.

This might be the problem too...but I found the CPI is more likely the culprit...Best to check the EGR First...much cheaper to replace!

Do a vacuum test and check teh fuel pressure regulator, if the diaphram has ruptured the vacuum will suck gas down the vacuum line causing what you are talkin about

Another way to check the CPI unit/regulator is to pull the 'Vortec' beauty cover off, and remove the plenum divider motor thingy. (two screws and it's out, be careful with the o-ring)
Shine a light down into the intake. If the CPI/regulator has taken a dump, chances are the inside of the intake will be wet with leaked fuel. It should be completely dry in there if it's in good shape.

I would just disable the EGR or lessen the flow as much as possible like the EGR mod that alot of the SFI guys are doing, but that is just me. Would cause alot less problems
