I don't know if it applies to 1st gens or not, but it surely works on the 2nd gens. I read that on ZR2.com a few days ago and tried it. It really keeps your feet cooler while driving on hot days with the windows down and doesn't affect the operation of the HVAC system at all.

Is air supposed to still blow out? I still have air blowing out but its not hot anymore.

The air should still blow out but not hot, it should be the same temp or slightly cooler than outside air.
