SLP y-pipe finally installed!

Just like the header says. I got a used one from sy-clone here on the forum. I must say this is not an install for the shade tree mechanic. It took the muffler shop installer almost 3 hours to put on. And the flange holes must be drilled out at least with a 1/2" drill bit like 98 SS ON NOS said in the sticky above. You might even need to drill them out more, because I think the flange has bent slightly around the header flange bolts. Which means this is going to be a BISH to take off. Hopefully that'll never happen. Well, it's been on for almost 150 miles and no SES light yet. I did have to remove the pre-cat, no way around that and have a piece of pipe welded in place. Oh well, it has opened up the sound on my truck now. My Gibson used to be really mellow sounding. Now it's a lot more aggressive (sp?) sounding. Here's the pics of the install in my agllery and I even have a sound vid. I did this at night so it's not the best, but you get the idea.

Let me know what you guys think.

One question, will I get in trouble for an inspection since the pre-cat is removed? I still have the main cat in place. But does their computer tell the inspector how many cats my truck came with from factory?

I should be okay since they don't do smog checks out here.

You should, they are worth it if you can find a used one in good condition.

Yes they definatly are worth it! With mine I had to heat up the bring the two sides closer together. I dunno if my headers were a little off, or the ypipe was. Either way it only took me an hour and a half??

Mine was the opposite, it was to narrow. I had to loosen the headers from the heads and hook them up to the y-pipe first (loose of coarse) then tighten the headers back up before tightening up the y-pipe.

I hope I never have to take mine off. If so, I may have to cut it off from what people are telling me, they are a biatch to remove.
